Easter Bunny to make appearance at Egg Hunt

The City of Lancaster is celebrating Easter with a free Easter Egg Hunt this weekend.

Rosie's Easter Bash holds lots of fun for the kids, including free crafts and face painting.

An Easter Basket Contest is also part of the day's festivities.

Egg Hunts are offered in several age groups:

10:30 a.m. - Ages 19m through 3 years
11:00 a.m. - Ages 4 through 6
12:00 p.m. - Ages 7 through 11

While older children are not allowed to hunt with younger children, kids ages 18 months through 6 years may have one helper.

Lancaster's long-eared bunny and mascot Rosie is set to appear, with photo opportunities for the kids.

Easter Eggs Hunters can join the fun at the Lancaster Fairgrounds, located at 823 South Main Street in Lancaster, Saturday March 30, from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m.

Admission is free and open to the public. Hot dogs and ice cream are available for purchase during the event.

Mountain bike trails now open at Rock Hill Outdoor Center

Mountain bike trails now open at Rock Hill Outdoor Center

The Rock Hill Parks, Recreation and Tourism Department officially announced Tuesday that the mountain bike trails at the Rock Hill Outdoor Center are now open and ready for use.

Varying levels of difficulty are available - easy, difficult, and most difficult – with colored signage to indicate the differing levels. Official say cyclists should begin at the trail head for the Piedmont Medical Center Trail and review the signage in order to plan the appropriate trail for their level of experience.

The trails branch off of the Piedmont Medical Center Trail from a common entry point and then split off based on level of difficulty.

Cars can be parked at the parking facilities at the trail head; there is no admission fee for the use of the trails.

The Piedmont Medical Center Trail is the 2 ¼ mile linear asphalt trail located along the banks of the Catawba River at the Rock Hill Outdoor Center at Riverwalk.
