Elderly woman attacked inside home after getting out of shower | Crime
CLOVER, SC (WBTV) - A 72-year-old Clover woman is installing new security in her home after deputies say she was beaten and stripped by an intruder Monday afternoon in her home.
The incident happened just after 4:30 p.m. on Crossland Road near the town of Clover. The victim which didn’t want to be identified, talked with WBTV’s Trent Faris about the attack.
She says she had just gotten out of the shower, when she heard a knock at the door. She wrapped a towel around her thinking it was one of her grandchildren, who live next door.
When she opened the door, she says a black male forced his way into her home, hit her in the face and knocked her down on the floor.
“I’m saying 'Please don’t shoot me, please don’t shoot me',” the woman told WBTV. “Then he’s just standing there, looking at me, and next thing I know is he reaches and grabs the towel and I’m bare-naked.”
The victim says the man never demanded money, even when the woman’s purse and lap top computer were just feet away on the kitchen table.
“So I started hollering [for my son] 'Robert! Robert!' and he takes his eyes off of me to look in the room and I shoot out the front door,” said the woman.
Naked and scared, the woman ran to Robert's camper behind her house.
“I grabbed my pistol and came around front, but he was already gone,” Robert told WBTV.
The woman has bumps, bruises and a busted lip from her attack.
“25 years, we’ve never had problems like this, no one has had problems like this,” said the woman.
So now on top of adding extra locks, security lights and a bull dog she’s going to add more protection.
“I will have a gun and I will use the gun,” said the woman.
The victim gave a description of the man as a skinny light skinned black male in is late teens or early twenties, wearing a white toboggan and a gold shirt. A neighbor says they saw a black male running through the woods around the time of the incident and saw him get into a gold Mitsubishi.
